Challenge

As part of a luminary design course, this project centered on emotional design, aiming to reimagine the standard office lamp. Traditional lamps often serve a purely functional purpose—providing light—without engaging the user's emotions or enhancing the surrounding environment. The challenge was to go beyond the conventional approach and create a lighting product that would evoke natural emotions, transforming the user's experience in office or waiting room settings.

Problem

The key issue with most office lamps is their lack of emotional engagement; they merely provide light without contributing to the ambiance or user experience. The goal was to design a product that not only illuminates but also creates an immersive atmosphere, using light to convey emotions and offer a more thoughtful, engaging interaction. Through this project, I learned how to approach product design with a focus on emotional impact, incorporating material choices and lighting concepts to create a deeper connection between the product and the user.
