Challenge

As part of a luminary design course, this project focused on emotional design, exploring how light can be used to influence and improve the well-being of office workers. The challenge was to address the sense of overwhelm that many experience due to the stationary and repetitive nature of office environments. By designing a lighting solution that encourages moments of mental clarity and inspiration, we aimed to create an environment that fosters better mental health and performance.

Problem

The core issue was the monotony of daily office routines, which can lead to mental fatigue and a lack of inspiration. The goal was to design a lighting element that serves as a focal point, helping users disconnect from their immediate reality and find moments of creative inspiration. Through concept creation, iteration, and feedback rounds, we explored materials and prototypes to transform the design into a physical product, ultimately translating it into a detailed render that reflects the intended emotional impact.
