Challenge

During the Space App Challenge Costa Rica, we developed an interactive and user-friendly platform focused on biodiversity recognition and monitoring. The project aimed to address the challenge of monitoring Costa Rica's vast biodiversity, which is hindered by difficult access, remote locations, and limited budgets. By creating a platform that engages users in the monitoring process, we aimed to bridge the gap between researchers and the general public, encouraging awareness and involvement in the country's wildlife conservation efforts.

Problem

Monitoring Costa Rica's diverse wildlife is a complex task due to the country's challenging geography and resource constraints. The goal was to create a solution that would allow users, including national and foreign tourists, to become part of the research and conservation effort, increasing awareness and knowledge about local wildlife. Through the project, we integrated gamification elements and developed a platform that could educate and engage users, making them feel like part of the scientific community. This 24-hour challenge honed our skills in team collaboration, rapid prototyping, and creative problem-solving.
