During the COVID-19 lockdown, this project was part of a final design course focused on mobility. We aimed to create a bicycle gadget that would enhance the learning experience for children and foster stronger bonds between parents and their kids. The project sought to support both the physical and emotional aspects of learning to ride a bicycle, using design to develop cognitive, motor, and emotional skills in a collaborative environment. The challenge was to blend functionality with an emotionally enriching experience that would resonate with both parents and children.
The primary issue we addressed was improving the overall learning process of riding a bicycle, ensuring it became a shared, engaging, and emotionally rewarding activity for both parents and children. The goal was to create a gadget that would not only assist in teaching cycling but also strengthen the parent-child relationship through interactive learning. The project involved detailed research, including strength simulations, anthropometric studies, and user surveys. Through this process, we learned how critical factors like color schemes and material selection affect user perception, especially in products targeting children. Additionally, we realized that stress testing and system adaptability were essential in refining the final product design.
